Ausgangslage
Im Rahmen des Redevelopments des Malakoff-Park (MAP) in Mainz plante SCHOYERER ARCHITEKTEN_SYRA die Umstrukturierung wesentlicher Mietflächen in der Passage, darunter die Flächen HiFi-Profis, VAPIANO-Restaurant und der MAP SPORTS CLUB. Der Innenausbau erfolgte im Bestand und integriert das Fitnessstudio in die bestehende Gebäudestruktur des Malakoff-Park.
Konzept
Der MAP SPORTS CLUB in Mainz steht für ein zeiteffektives Trainingskonzept mit kurzen Wegen und Konzentration auf das Wesentliche. Über 70 moderne Fitnessgeräte sowie eine Functional Zone bieten professionelle Trainingsbedingungen. Entwurfsleitend war ein offener Grundriss mit klarer Orientierung und räumlicher Transparenz, der Training, Kommunikation und Aufenthalt selbstverständlich miteinander verbindet.
Architektur Beschreibung
Prägend für den Innenausbau des Fitnessstudios im Malakoff-Park ist der offene Trainingsbereich mit transparenten Fassaden an den Stirnseiten sowie einem zentralen Oberlicht, das für einen hellen und freundlichen Raumeindruck sorgt. Eine auf einem Podest angeordnete Lounge-Zone ist durch einen schleierartigen Faden-Vorhang räumlich differenziert, ohne abgeschottet zu wirken. Seitlich schließen die Umkleiden an.
Die Wandflächen sind überwiegend mit hochwertigem Feinputz und weißem Anstrich ausgeführt. Kontrastierend dazu entwickelt sich entlang des Eingangsbereichs, des Empfangstresens, der Umkleidezugänge und der Lounge eine gefaltete Leitwand in den CI-Farben Blau und Grau. Transluzente und transparente Folierungen der Glasfassaden schaffen ein ausgewogenes Verhältnis zwischen Einblick und Diskretion.
Die partiell offenen Betondecken mit sichtbaren Installationen verleihen dem Raumkontinuum einen modernen Loft-Charakter. Akustisch wirksame Deckensegel verbessern die Raumakustik und scheinen unter der Rohdecke zu schweben.
Konstruktion
Der Innenausbau wurde mit robusten, pflegeleichten Materialien umgesetzt, abgestimmt auf die Corporate Identity des MAP SPORTS CLUB. Eingangsbereich, Lounge, Umkleiden und Sanitärbereiche sind mit großformatigen dunkelgrauen Fliesen ausgestattet, ergänzt durch Mosaikfliesen in den Duschbereichen. Die Trainingsflächen erhielten einen hochwertigen, rutschhemmenden und federnden Bodenbelag in Holzoptik für Cardio- und Fitnessbereiche.
Fest eingebaute Elemente wie der Empfangstresen leiten sich formal aus der Architektur der Leitwand ab. Möblierung und Materialwahl folgen einem klaren, funktionalen Designansatz, der Komfort und Langlebigkeit verbindet.
Existing Conditions
As part of the redevelopment of Malakoff Park (MAP) in Mainz, SCHOYERER ARCHITEKTEN_SYRA were commissioned to restructure key rental areas within the shopping passage, including the former HiFi-Profis premises, the VAPIANO restaurant, and the MAP SPORTS CLUB. The interior fit-out was executed within the existing structure, integrating the fitness studio into the established building fabric of Malakoff Park.
Concept
The MAP SPORTS CLUB in Mainz represents a time-efficient training concept focused on short circulation paths and concentration on the essentials. More than 70 state-of-the-art fitness machines, together with a dedicated functional training zone, provide professional training conditions. The design is guided by an open-plan layout with clear orientation and spatial transparency, seamlessly connecting training, communication, and relaxation areas.
Architectural Design
The defining feature of the interior is the open training area, characterized by transparent façades at both ends and a central skylight that ensures a bright and welcoming atmosphere. A lounge zone, positioned on a slightly raised platform, is spatially differentiated by a veil-like thread curtain that creates separation without enclosure. Changing rooms are arranged along the sides of the main space. Wall surfaces are predominantly finished with high-quality fine plaster and white paint. In contrast, a folded feature wall unfolds along the entrance area, reception desk, access to the changing rooms, and lounge. Executed in the club’s corporate colors of blue and grey, it establishes a strong visual identity within the space. Translucent and transparent film applications on the glazed façades create a balanced relationship between visibility and privacy. Partially exposed concrete ceilings with visible building services lend the spatial continuum a contemporary loft character. Acoustically effective ceiling panels improve sound quality while appearing to float beneath the raw slab.
Construction
The interior fit-out employs durable, low-maintenance materials aligned with the corporate identity of the MAP SPORTS CLUB. The entrance area, lounge, changing rooms, and sanitary facilities are finished with large-format dark grey tiles, complemented by mosaic tiling in the shower areas. Training zones are equipped with a high-quality, slip-resistant and resilient flooring in a wood finish, suitable for both cardio and strength training areas. Built-in elements such as the reception desk are formally derived from the architectural language of the folded feature wall. Furnishings and material selection follow a clear and functional design approach, combining comfort with long-term durability.
