Heiße Theke Wallertheim
Ausgangslage
Der Wettbewerb in Wallertheim fokussierte die Stärkung der örtlichen Infrastruktur im Ortskern, insbesondere Dorfladen, Marktplatz und den Ideenteil auf dem Nachbargrundstück. Nördlich grenzt der Marktplatz an das Areal, östlich wird der Bestand für den Ideenteil genutzt, südlich verläuft die Neustraße als zentrale Verbindung nach Gau-Bickelheim, Wörrstadt und zur A61.
Konzept
Ziel war das Weiterbauen des bestehenden Ortsbildes unter Wahrung der städtischen Körnung, Fluchten und typischen Dorfstrukturen wie Fachwerk im Obergeschoss. Der Neubau des Dorfladens im Realisierungsteil bildet das Zentrum des Wettbewerbsareals, ergänzt durch einen Multifunktionsraum – die „Heiße Theke“. Barrierefreie Zugänge verbinden Marktplatz, Neustraße und Innenhöfe.
Architektur Beschreibung
Die Architektur von Wallertheim setzt auf geschlossene Fassaden mit Fensteröffnungen, die sich an der umliegenden Bebauung orientieren. Die Dächer werden durchgehend fortgeführt, während Gartenflächen und Innenhöfe die Südseite strukturieren. Auf dem Marktplatz entstehen klimaangepasste Pflanzflächen, Schirme und Sitzmöglichkeiten zur Wiederbelebung des Ortszentrums. Im Ideenteil werden Bestandsgebäude erhalten und funktional ergänzt durch Veranstaltungsräume, Co-Working Spaces, Atelier-Werkstatt und barrierefreie Zugänge.
Konstruktion
Die Sockelgeschosse bestehen aus regionalen Hochlochziegeln, Obergeschosse und Dächer werden in vorgefertigten Holztafeln ausgeführt. Natursteinelemente aus dem Bestand werden für Fassadenabschnitte wiederverwendet. Auskragende Dachränder dienen als baulicher Sonnenschutz. PV-Anlagen und Regenwasserrückhaltung unterstützen das Energie- und Ressourcenkonzept.
Initial Situation
The competition in Wallertheim focused on strengthening the local infrastructure in the town center, including the village shop, marketplace, and the idea section on the neighboring plot. The marketplace borders the site to the north, the existing building is used for the idea section to the east, and the Neustraße runs along the south, providing a key connection to Gau-Bickelheim, Wörrstadt, and the A61.
Concept
The goal was to continue the existing village fabric while maintaining its urban grain, alignments, and typical structures such as half-timbered upper floors. The new village shop in the realization section serves as the center of the competition site, complemented by a multifunctional space – the “Hot Counter.” Barrier-free access connects the marketplace, Neustraße, and inner courtyards.
Architectural Description
The architecture in Wallertheim features solid facades with windows aligned to the surrounding buildings. Roofs continue seamlessly, while garden areas and inner courtyards structure the southern side. The marketplace is enhanced with climate-adapted planting, umbrellas, and seating to revitalize the town center. In the idea section, existing buildings are preserved and functionally complemented with event spaces, co-working areas, studio-workshops, and barrier-free access.
Construction
Ground floors are constructed from regional hollow bricks, while upper floors and roofs are built with prefabricated timber panels. Reused natural stone elements from the existing buildings are incorporated into the facades. Overhanging roof edges provide passive solar shading. PV systems and rainwater retention measures support the energy and resource concept.
